(auto-generated photo album - mobile tourist assistance system)

The
IT Science Centre in association with the Universities of
Greifwald and Rostock, the partner OFFIS as well as the IT
College Putbus, develops a mobile touristy assistance system,
which supports potential tourists with the process of editing
the vacation pictures, the creation of a multimedia photo
album of the vacation during the stay in the vacation area
until the post processing.

Therefore
a multimedia geographical information system will be settled
about tourist interesting objects on the island of Rügen
such as accommodations, restaurants, sights, cultural events
but also the landscape such as waters, beaches and woods.
The system allows the guest to get the information in detail
before he starts his journey, to find a matching route as
well as during and after the journey to manage the own pictures,
notes and audio records. Owing to the personal interests and
penchants, the system is able to offer proper sighs along
the vacation route. Vacationers, who are enthusiastically
in water sport e.g. will be able to find possibilities, hotels
and restaurants in the directly environment of a harbour or
a surf school.
The route could be transmitted to a mobile GPS supported instrument
like a PDA. The PDA has the function of a mobile and digital
journey and route-leader later. Is the tourist near by an
object that belongs to his route, the suitable information
is displayed in terms of text, pictures, video or audio. A
card which displays the route, the sighs and the current position
ensures a necessary overview. The records of pictures, text
and audio as well as the reclined route, which are collected
in the personal user profile, enables the system to refer
a geographical position to the data. With the help of further
information from our tourist database, individual photo albums
could be automatically suggested or created in particular.
The vacationer has to decide the structure and layout only.
Afterwards this could be developed from an external photographic
laboratory and could be send to the home address. Directly
returned from the vacation, the tourist could hold a private
journey album in his hands.
